Plants - Inquiry Learning
In the last week of term, the children brainstormed all the things that they knew about plants. Then they came up with questions that they wanted to answer.

Over the holidays, you may wish to help your child select a question/questions to investigate and guide their research. It would be appreciated if your child brings what they have done to school.

How do plants help us?
What creatures live in trees? Why do
creatures live in trees?
How do birds get food out of the trees?
How do plants make medicine?
How is paper made from trees?

What does a plant need to grow?
How do leaves fall off trees?
Why are leaves green?
How do leaves grow?
How old and tall can trees get? How can you tell?

How do trees grow?

What are the parts of a plant?
How low do roots grow?
How does a seed grow into a tree or plant?
Why do trees have bark?
Can there be different kinds of bark?

How can we help plants?

What do Māori use plants for?
What plants do they use?
What do they make out of plants?
Is there any special things they need to do before they use the plants?

Achieving Goals

I am so impressed with all those children who have started to achieve their goals that we set in term 1. Kingsley sent a video of him tying his shoe laces. Have a look...

If you have achieved your goal get mum or dad to take a picture or video and Miss Campbell will upload it to the blog.

Easter Time
What a treat! It was Hannah's birthday on April 5 and she brought a huge egg with easter eggs to share with the class. This meant that we had extra eggs in our easter baskets.
