Narrative Writing
Children practised writing WALTS for narratives.
There were two problems that were in our classroom this week.
Problem 1: water spilt on desk
Problem 2: equipment is lost
We realised that narrative settings could be at school too. We brainstormed all the places around the school where settings could take place.
Settings were collated and Sydney and Jack took pictures around the school at the most popular places.
Characters - talking and learning partners
Problems - Three Cards
something or someone broken
something or someone found
something or someone lost
We then brainstormed the problem and resolution before we wrote the story in our books.
Narrative Example
Setting: SpiderWeb
Characters: Hugo and Sydney
Problem: Someone or something broken
Finally, Hugo and I were allowed to play on the spiderweb. I liked the feeling of the web. It felt like a cat’s tongue! Suddenly, I saw Hugo start to fall. Then quick as a flash I grabbed Hugo’s hand. The rough rope clung to my hand. Unfortunately, Hugo fell. I knew that noise would come on when he fell from the top. The noise was like a noisy elephant. Miss Campbell rang the doctor and the doctor said, “I will make him better.” Then the next day Hugo was better. Hugo didn’t want to go on the spiderweb again. I understood that indeed! By Sydney
